Biswapriya received his bachelors and masters degree in Physics from the Calcutta University. Thereafter he joined the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) for his Ph.D. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Jadavpur University for his research on the Synthesis and characterization of Group-III nitrides in the thin film form. After a year of working as a post-doctoral fellow in the University of Minnesota, he joined CVD group of University of Louisville.

His current research profile includes the large scale synthesis of metal oxide nanowires, plasma treatment of nanoparticles with functional groups in the fluidized bed, gas sensor and other important devices.
